What To Expect
What To Expect When You Visit Us
First and foremost, you can expect a warm welcome at Owl Hollow. We welcome all visitors and would love the opportunity to meet you. We are a family that is always looking to welcome new faces into our congregation. You can expect to shake a lot of hands and meet a lot of new people when you visit us!
A normal Sunday morning worship service includes five basic items. We will all join together in song, prayer, communion, contribution, and Bible study. These five things allow us a time to grow closer to God through our worship to Him and closer to each other through our fellowship together.
When we sing, we offer our praises to God as well as offering instruction to those around us (Ephesians 5:19). Rather than using a musical instrument, we sing to God with our voices while plucking the strings of our heart (Colossians 3:16). This is meant to be a time of wonderful praise as we join our voices together as the family of God to worship Him in spirit and truth as Jesus commanded (John 4:24).
Prayer is a vital part of every service at Owl Hollow. We join our minds together as we bring our concerns and struggles before the very throne of God. God listens to our petitions as a faithful Father looking after His children. We believe that in praying we call on the most powerful force ever known and we know that God listens to us (James 5:16).
The most special time during our service on the first day of the week is the Lord’s Supper. We devote time for those in attendance to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Luke 22:17-20) and examine themselves in light of that sacrifice (1 Corinthians 11:28). When we break bread on the first day of the week, we follow in the ancient paths of the church of the New Testament (Acts 20:7). This is truly a special time of the worship service for us at Owl Hollow.
After the Lord’s Supper, we will offer the opportunity for those in attendance to give to the cause of Christ (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). The funds collected at this time go to support missionaries, help those in need, and perform the daily works and ministries of the Owl Hollow church. We invite all to give as he or she has been prospered with a cheerful heart.
Our Bible study consists of a sermon from the Word of God. We believe that the Word of God is the source for all spiritual truths we need in this world (John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Our preachers follow the instruction of Paul by preaching this truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). This is time for all of us to allow ourselves to be molded into the image of Christ through the Word of God.
